To my readers....

I've hit a couple of milestones - it was one year ago on Tuesday that I decided to retire. I wasn't sure if I was ready, but because of changes with the merger at my work as well as completing a communications conversion project, it seemed fitting.

There have been fits and starts since that time, but I've managed to find a bit of a groove where I don't feel the need to fill my entire day with activities. I've been able to stay in touch with friends from work, rekindled relationships I didn't have time for previously, and picked up a couple of new hobbies along the way.

That brings me to my second milestone. Roberts Reader has surpassed 100 posts since we started back in October last year. Some people tell me that they're trying to "catch up" on posts and read when they have time. That's awesome to me. If I've set up the website correctly, you should be able to scroll back and see any of the posts in order. Most of them are standalone, so you don't have to read in a particular order or at all if the subject doesn't interest you.

I use WIX software which give me a lot of reports showing how many people check out a post, what time of day they normally look, as well as comments. Here's the list of posts in historical order:

The software also tells me which posts are the most popular. People seem to have enjoyed the human-interest stories like the Farm, Match Day, A Tale of Two Underground Papers, Near Death Experience, Caleb's Playground, Humanity as well as some of the trivia and music posts. Less interesting are the health and tech ones but they scratch a personal itch for me, so you'll see them from time to time.

A special thanks to a few people who have encouraged me with this blog site...

My wife, Celeste - she's my proofreader who keeps me from publishing run-on sentences and ensures my spelling is on target. I'm the King of sentences that have "and" and "and" and "and" in them. A good smack on the side of the head during editing. She also has taught me to space out my posts to save you from playing catch up.

My daughter Aria and my good friend Joseph who helped set up and tweak this site.

My brother Tag and neighbor John, who I can almost always count on to leave a comment on a post.

So many friends who either email or text me to comment on posts and to suggest ideas for other posts. So far, I hope the subject matter is varied enough to keep you interested. The world is such an interesting place for me that I don't see myself running out of things to write about any time soon.

Please continue to provide feedback on posts and story ideas - I know most of you don't like to comment publicly, so text or email me with your thoughts if you'd like.

Be good to one another.

When my brother told me he was going to start a blog, I had no idea he would be this prolific and the quality of the posts have really helped my everyday life. I have recently started listening to different music due to these posts. I look forward to the next posts, with the exception of the NFL stories, haha!

100 posts!!! That's incredible! On top of that, they're really good reading!

As for retirement, it takes a good year to tone down and find a new niche. That niche needs to be fun, enjoyable and most of all, LEGAL! I personally need to keep active 'cause moving targets are harder to hit.
