I read an article recently by Curt Melzer on the website Medium that gave some amazing statistics about an average human's life. Condensing and sharing some of these with you. For some of the hard to believe ones, I've researched the stats and found them to be true. Let me know what you think:


Keep in mind, all these statistics are for the AVERAGE person. Your mileage may vary...


  • You will grow 600 miles of hair in your lifetime.

  • The skin on your body will replaces itself 900 times.

  • Your average life expectancy will be 77 years old (Men) and 82 (Women).

  • Your heart will beat 3 BILLION times in your lifetime.

  • You will take 670 million breaths.

  • You will walk 110,000 miles (the equivalent of 4 times around the earth).

  • You will experience between 6,000 and 10,000 orgasms in your lifetime.

  • You will spend 26 years of your life sleeping - add another seven years lying in bed. trying to fall asleep.

  • You will spend 80,000 hours of your lifetime at work.

  • The average person knows between 600 and 1,000 people by name.

  • You will interact with and talk to between 50,000 and 90,000 people during your lifetime.

  • You will spend four and a half years of your life eating.

  • The average smartphone user sends or receives 32 texts per day, 11,680 texts per year.

  • You will sleep an average of three years away from home sleeping in other beds (mostly on vacation).

  • The average American family spends $2,256 dollars per year on vacation.

  • You will average 245 days of your life waiting in line - an average of 8 months of our lives

  • The average woman will spend 136 days of their lives getting ready to go out (3,264 hours).

  • The average man will spend 46 days of their lives getting ready to go out (1,104 hours)

  • You will spend an average of 200 days during your lifetime looking for something you've misplaced.

  • On average, people spend 115 days of their lifetime laughing - if you live to be 80, that's only about 35 hours a year or less than six minutes a day.
