This post got some favorable feedback when first published a few weeks ago, so here's some more True Facts that I've learned.


  • There's a species of ant that self-destructs as a defense mechanism. The Camponotus saundersi species of ant can cause two mandibular glands to explode when it's losing a fight. The glands are filled with a corrosive and sticky substance that can immobilize its attackers and save other members of its colony.

  • The mask that Michael Myers wears in Halloween is actually a white Captain Kirk Star Trek Mask.


  • Scientists estimate that there are over ONE HUNDRED BILLION galaxies in the observable universe alone.


  • For 43 years, the NFL record for the longest made field goal was held by a man with no toes on his kicking foot. Tom Dempsey was born with neither toes on his right foot or fingers on his right hand, but his 63-yard field goal in 1970 wasn't matched until 1998 and wasn't broken until 2013!

  • Brad Pitt's first acting gig was dressing up as a giant chicken. Pitt wore a chicken costume for his job at El Pollo Loco.

  • You may know that cows have four stomachs, but did you know that octopuses have three hearts?


  • The children's book Green Eggs and Ham contains just 50 different words. Dr. Suess made a bet with a colleague that he could write a successful book using just 50 words and won!
