Chuck Norris passed away suddenly on Thursday at the age of 86. He was surrounded by family and was in a Hawaiian hospital for days prior to his passing due to an undisclosed medical emergency. No cause of death has been released at the families' request, but they did say he was at peace.

Carlos Ray Norris was an American martial artist, military veteran, actor, screenwriter, and author. He held black belts in karate, taekwondo, Tang Soo Do, Brazilian jiu-jitsu and judo.

Norris got his start in the American Film Industry as a martial arts instructor for celebrities before making his own film debut with a minor role the movie, The Wrecking Crew in 1968 at the age of 28. He became friends with Bruce Lee and Steve McQueen and went on to star in many films including A Force of One, The Octagon and An Eye for An Eye. He continued to appear in action films until 2012 with his final film role in The Expendables 2 at the age of 72.

Chuck Norris was a bestselling author, writing many books on martial arts, exercise, philosophy, conservative politics, Christian western fiction, self-help as well as a biography. He wrote a regular column for WorldNetDaily. Additionally, Chuck was the spokesperson for Total Gym.

Somewhere along the way, Norris became the subject of Chuck Norris Facts, which became an internet meme that exaggerated his toughness and abilities in a humorous way.

Chuck was an outspoken Christian and the author of several Christian themed books - additionally, he was both a Republican and an outspoken conservative.

Chuck developed and lived a code of honor and rules to live by that included:

I will develop myself to the maximum of my potential in all ways.

I will forget the mistakes of the past and press on to greater achievements.

I will continually work at developing love, happiness and loyalty in my family.

I will look for the good in all people and make them feel worthwhile.

If I have nothing good to say about a person, I will say nothing.

I will always be as enthusiastic about the success of others as I am about my own.

I will maintain an attitude of open-mindedness.

I will maintain respect for those in authority and demonstrate this respect at all times.

I will always remain loyal to my God, my country, family and my friends.

I will remain highly goal-oriented throughout my life because that positive attitude helps my family, my country and myself.
